Babu Chiri sherpa  is acknowledged as one of the strongest climbers in the Himalaya and famous mountaineer in the world. He held two world records on Everest. In Spring 1999: Babu spent over 21 hours on the Summit Mt Everest without auxiliary oxygen (still the record )and  set the speed record for climbing Everest on the South Side in 16 hours and 56 minutes, the following year. Who is Babu chiri Sherpa ?


Babu Chiri Sherpa is considered one of the greatest Mountain climbers ever. With ten Everest Summits (including 4 North Side summits), many considered Babu Chiri Sherpa the strongest climber on Everest. Babu Chiri Sherpa passed away after unexpectedly falling into a crevasse at Camp II at 16 hrs on 29 April 2001. He was camping at Camp II in the western Cwm of Everest. It is believed that he was trying to take pictures from different corners around camp II, and he fell into a unknown crevasse. His body was recovered on April 30th at 9 hrs by one Sherpa and 2 western climbers from about 30 m deep down…
